What is the role: Short walk volunteer leader
Who is the role for: Kennington Strollers, Ramblers
When does the volunteering take place: At present the short walks are planned to take place on Tuesday afternoons between the months of May and the end of September, 2 – 3:30pm
Where does the volunteering take place: Kennington at the playing field end of Playfield Road, Kennington, OX1 5RS
What does the role involve: Leading a walk and supporting people by chatting, listening, or lending a supportive arm if needed. After the walks we have refreshments and have time to get to know each other. You will need to attend a one-day training course offered by Walking for Health but not immediately, try out the walks first to see if you enjoy them. You do not have to lead the walk each week – ideally every other week.
Why you should sign up to this role: If you enjoy walking and would like to support others to feel the benefit, then this role may really suit you. We are looking for friendly, approachable people.
You don’t need to be super fit as the walks are short – simply laps around a flat playing field, with walkers able to do as many or few laps as they wish.
