What is the role: Befriender and Activities Worker
Who for: Leonard Cheshire Disability – The Elms
When: Between 10:30 and 2:30 – especially Mondays!
Where: The Elms, 2 – 4 Moorland Road, Witney, OX28 6LF
What is involved: Interacting with clients, talking and listening to them to make them feel valued. Assisting with activities such as floor games, Trivia, helping to run a cooking group, arts of crafts…whatever skills or hobbies you have, we will try to use.
Why you should sign up: We are a welcoming and friendly little group at the Elms. If you wanted to help or share your skills with us we would love to hear about what you could bring. We look after people aged 65 and over some suffering with dementia. If you have some free time and wanted to do something worthwhile please come in for an informal chat and take a look around. We would love to have you. The clients are lovely and have a few tales to tell.
Skills required: This role is perfect for anyone who enjoys a chatting with people – good listening skills are most important. If you want help yourself building your confidence or getting it back, this can be a supportive environment in which to volunteer.
Support available: You will receive an induction and training for your role so that you know what to expect.
Due to the nature of this role you will need to have a DBS check and references.
