What is the role: Volunteer for Oxford’s new befriending and transport scheme

What is involved: We are looking for volunteers living in Oxford City who are willing to offer time to help older people with practical and befriending needs. We are particularly looking for people with their own cars who can offer volunteer transport, but also people happy to become a befriender, help with shopping or small gardening jobs and possible support with basic paperwork.
Why you should sign up: You will benefit from being involved with people who need support in Oxford and make an enormous difference to the lives of the people you help.
Skills required: We are looking for calm, practical people who are comfortable working with the elderly (training is available however, to support you with this)
- There will be a volunteer briefing session for the new Oxford Red Arrow Good Neighbour Scheme at 6.30pm on Tuesday 15th November at St Margaret’s Institute, 30 Polstead Road, Oxford, OX2 6TN.
- Training is provided to support you in this role
- Expenses are paid for your travel of 45p per mile – this does not affect your car insurance policy
