Looking to get in the Christmas spirit? Why not volunteer at Oxford’s Light Festival?

What is the role: Christmas Lights Festival Ambassador

Who for: Oxford City Council Culture and Events Team

When: 25th – 27th November – THIS IS A ONE-OFF OPPORTUNITY

Where: In locations around Oxford City Centre, including Broad Street, Gloucester Green and Oxford Castle

What is involved: As a festival volunteer there are a range of ways you can get involved in helping ensure the smooth running of the event. Roles available include:

  • Lantern procession stewards
  • Assisting with installations
  • Conducting research with the public to find out what they think of the event
  • Information guide at the event for people with questions

Why you should sign up: This year’s festival theme is Winter Tales and once again the city centre will be transformed into a Christmassy wonderland. The Council are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help ensure the weekend is a huge success. Whether you are interested in events management, the arts or want to get experience in a public facing environment, this is the role for you.

Skills required: This role is open to everyone over the age of 16. Some of the tasks are more physically demanding than others e.g. supporting the festival crew.

Over the course of the weekend there will be 6 hour shifts so ideally the council would like you to be able to commit to a shift.

No references or a DBS check are required for this role.

How to get involved:  Please contact Charlotte on CMaciszonek@oxford.gov.uk by Sunday 13th November if you are interested. There is an information and get to know each other session in the Town Hall between 5 and 7pm on 16th November.
