What is the role: Deliver library books to those who cannot access a library
Who for: Libraries across Oxfordshire
When: Whenever suits you! Volunteers typically deliver books every 3 weeks and most visit 3 customers but it is up to you and the time you have available
Where: Throughout Oxfordshire, so you can visit customers who live close to you
What is involved: You will deliver and collect library materials every 3 weeks to your customers. Through spending time chatting with them you will learn about their preferences, enabling you to choose books and other materials that they will really enjoy.
Why you should sign up:
- You will be providing a lifeline to individuals who cannot get to a library
- It is a great way to share your own enjoyment of reading, and you may learn about new authors and books from the customers you meet
- It’s a flexible opportunity which can fit around your schedule
Skills required: A love of books and ability to relate to people in a warm and friendly manner. You will also need to be able to travel and to use the internet in order to search for books with your customer.
Support provided: All volunteers will receive induction training and your travel expenses are covered
